For three decades, Angel Smedley has been at the forefront of the size-inclusive movement. As an award winning broadcaster, model, fashion stylist, full-figured fitness model, public speaker, commentator, traveling fashion editor, art director, producer, emcee and brand ambassador for a multi-million dollar clothing brand exclusive to QVC, her core mission lies in helping women to be confident in the skin they are in, encouraging women to put themselves first with insight in becoming the healthiest and happiest version of themselves.
She began as a sales associate in a plus size retail store assisting women to find their true style, no matter what their size. She moved on to the runways & photo studios modeling, styling & commentating fashion shows; showing women how they, too, could be fashionable. Her advocacy encourages women to not give up on style when it feels as though the fashion industry forgets to always include the fuller figured woman.
Angel has always been passionate for inclusive, accessible fashion for all women. She worked in retail for Lane Bryant while attending college, not only selling women's wear, but offering her styling suggestions and positive advice to her customers.
She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts (BA) focused in Communication and Media Studies from Neumann College (now Neumann University). Upon graduation, she became an audio-visual specialist at Philadelphia University, eventually leading the department for several years.
While working at the University, Angel continued her passion for fashion and began a career as a plus-sized model and freelance stylist. She continued to style others, and offered commentary for fashion shows for a variety of retailers in the Philadelphia area.
Angel would later go on to become traveling editor for Grace Woman magazine and be recognized with the 2017 St. John Neumann Award as an outstanding Alumna for her Alma Mater Neumann University She is currently the MC for their annual scholarship gala, hosts design bag bingo events, and guest speaks with students on professional development.
In 2009, Angel turned her on-air QVC modeling experience into an on-air personality supporting role with Quack, Inc. and its founder. Upon the untimely death of her mentor Jeanne Bice in 2010, Quack Inc. contracted Angel to continue on-air representation for the brand on QVC.
Just one year later, Angel was awarded the 2011 QVC Guest Excellence Award for her outstanding on-air performance.
As an in-demand, accomplished, and spirited On-Air personality, Angel's history of working in the broadcast media industry demonstrates her qualified skills in Media Production, Marketing, Broadcast Television, and excels at growing Social Media brand engagement through her dedication to Content Creation.
Angel's ongoing list of qualifications and skills (art director, producer, stylist, talent booking, technical director, lighting designer, wardrobe stylist, set designer, Guest coaching, to name a few more) is proof of her "can do" attitude and enthusiasm for any role or position she's presented.
No matter what she’s up to – presenting on-air, speaking as a keynote, or sharing insight on her blog – Angel shows up as a cheerleader for all women! Angel's positive outlook was ingrained and inspired by her mother, who suffered from many illnesses over her short life. She loves to lift others up, especially on her social media platforms, which she uses to encourage women to take care of their physical and spiritual selves.
Her background in design, fashion, beauty, television, and modeling has served as a springboard for her long-lasting lifestyle brand which will continue to include style advice, laughter, and overall well being that empowers women to show up for themselves, learn how to dress for each body shape, coloring, and personal taste, and live with a beautifully dressed body, heart and soul.
